Aldura

Aldura is not a stable place. Every Solstice, somewhere between one season and the next, a tide of nameless chaos moves across the island and rewrites whatever it finds. Towns, walls, roads, all of it can be swept away in a single night. Nobody who lives here has ever seen the tide directly. They only see what it leaves behind, and what it takes.

What survives is what people did, not what they built. The Chronicle is Aldura's word for that: a living record of who showed up, who fought for what, who kept a promise when it would have been easier not to. Buildings don't last. The Chronicle does.

That's also why every season starts even. Whatever your town looked like before the last Solstice, none of it carries forward as an advantage. Everyone starts where everyone else starts. What matters is what you're willing to build, and fight for, before the tide comes back.

Someone has been watching all of this for longer than anyone currently on Aldura. They call themselves the Warden, and they've left notes scattered around for whoever finds them. Nobody quite knows what they are, only that they remember cycles nobody else does.

The Shattered Crystal

Something held the full force of the Solstice back, once. At the start of this cycle, it broke. Nobody agrees on what the crystal actually was, only that its pieces are out there now, in the dark under stone, carried off by the wilds, dropped by whatever it is that guards them.

Five factions are already moving. Whoever has banked the most shards when the Solstice returns doesn't just win a number on a board, they get real say in what the next season looks like, what gets rebuilt, what direction Aldura takes from here.

Shards come from quests, from voting for the server, from mining, from the rare kill that leaves one behind. Carrying them is the dangerous part. There's one altar, shared by everyone, no faction gets a safe corner to bank in alone. Get caught by a rival before you make it there and whatever you're carrying changes hands. Sunmarket Concord is the one exception, they can't fight and can't be fought, so for them the walk is always safe, just slower.

The map below updates once a day. Standings update from the server every few minutes, nobody knows the final tally until the Solstice actually arrives.

Common questions

What is Solstice SMP?

Solstice SMP is a Minecraft Java Edition survival server built around a seasonal reset. Every season, a shattered crystal scatters shards across the island of Aldura, and five player factions, each with their own perks and internal ranks, compete to collect and bank the most shards before the season ends. The winning faction gets real input into what the next season becomes. It runs on standard survival mechanics (Towny towns, mcMMO progression) with the faction war layered on top, not a total conversion.

Is Solstice SMP a classic Factions server?

Not in the raid-and-cannon sense most "Factions" servers mean. There's no chunk-claiming-and-raiding meta here, no cannons breaking through enemy bases. The five factions are fixed, lore-based groups you join on arrival, each with a passive perk (extra damage, extra health, a movement bonus, and so on) and an internal rank ladder with elections. The competition is the shard war, carrying a risky resource to a shared, contested altar, not territory control.

How do I join Solstice SMP?

The server is currently in a whitelist-only beta while the world and questline get finished. Join the Discord and apply for a whitelist spot in #beta-whitelist-applications, then watch #dev-log for updates on when applications open more broadly and when the server goes fully public.

How to join

Solstice SMP is Minecraft Java Edition, not live yet. There's no server address to connect to yet, the beta is whitelist-only while we finish testing.

Join the Discord, pick up a whitelist spot in #beta-whitelist-applications, and watch #dev-log for when that changes.
